Okay, friended on facebook, "liked", posted on wall, what next?

Long story short, I met a guy while working one day (I change where I work daily, I'm a sub), and we talked for a little while. I felt like we had a little bit of a connection. He even inserted a "fishing to see if you have a boyfriend but trying not to be overt about it" type of question. We didn't get much of a chance to talk before he had to leave for the day, so I left him a short note saying I enjoyed talking with him and invited him to facebook friend me. He did two days later. I wrote on his wall, "Hey new friend! *wave*", and then he liked one of my statuses. Do I wait for him to initiate conversation, or how long should I wait before I try to communicate with him? Or am I misreading and he friended me for hell of it. I was going on the assumption he didn't since we would never see each other again, but maybe I'm wrong. I need some advice from people who have more experience in this area. Thanks.
