When you're MISREAD; Do you 'Rewrite', or just 'Erase'?

When I misread when I am writing and do not notice I did that well, I just correct it or if I already sent the paper or letter in the mail I would just leave it like that and if they notice what I did I would just say I am only human and anybody can make a mistake but no apologies from me.
